Regular automotive paint just does not hold up good enough.
Question:
Regular automotive paint just does not hold up good enough.
Answer:
Automotive paint is meant to color and to protect against rain and the elements, not to coat with scratch and impact resistance. All our SL&C protective coatings products are truck bed, vehicle exterior, or other surface protective coatings, not paint.
For any coating to protect against impact or abrasion, thickness matters. An automotive paint is generally applied at under 3 mils which barely protects against mild scratches. Our products are generally applied at over 45 mils (15 times as thick). To get the same thickness would require more than 15 coats of automotive paint.
Always select the proper product to serve your particular needs.
