Are your Poly-hybrid products the same as your cartridge polyurea?
Question:
Are the poly hybrid products I see on Spray Lining the same as your Rhino/Line-X Alternative cartridge polyurea?
Answer:
No… the poly-hybrid DIY products are generally a hybrid of epoxy with aspects similar to polyurethane. They are similar in many ways to polyurea, but are designed for DIY or professional application using standard spray equipment. This allows individuals to apply them without the expensive equipment required for polyurea application. These products are what we call General Application products, and can be applied by any available method (texture hopper, roller, brush). They have a long pot life, so they can be manually mixed, and you can tailor the finished product more than the rapid curing polyurea.
We also have various formulations of these General Application products. Some have additives such as Kevlar®, etc. to meet specific needs or preferences. In addition to our poly-hybrid products, we have other manual mix epoxies, polyurethanes, and even polyureas meant to be applied without specialized spray equipment.
The cartridge based polyurea products are marketed to individuals who want to start a business competing with Rhino, Line-X, Armadillo, and other polyurea applicators. This allows them to apply products which are meant to compete directly with major national bedliner applicators with the least expensive equipment investment. Our Rhino/Line-X Alternative Dealer Startup Kits include not only the spray gun required, but enough material to do at least 20 full size 8 foot truck bedliners with commercial grade protection. Many dealers find that they get adequate coverage with less than half that amount, and get 40 – 50 trucks out of the same package.
We also provide drum-set and pail-set polyurea for dealers who plan to be applying 5 or more truck bed liners a day, but the equipment investment is more than $20,000 usually. Those businesses who get started applying with the cartridge spray gun often find that the investment is worthwhile. While the cartridge application is the simplest, businesses who spray 5 or more trucks a day can save with bulk material purchase.
