What about bare metal, how do you prep it before spraying bedliner?
Question:
I have areas where the bare metal is showing. How do I prepare it before spraying your coatings?
Answer:
While many of our coatings are able to adhere well to bare metal, we always recommend you prepare the entire surface properly. Scuff the metal with 180 grit or coarser sandpaper and/or sand blast to raise the profile first. Then apply a light primer coat using either our 2 part epoxy primer or a quality primer from your local automotive finishes supplier. Use a light coat of Spray Lining and Coatings primer for greatest adhesion.
Some bare metals require specific primers, and some stainless, chrome, and other finishes resist almost any coating product. Always check with your local finishes supplier, or call our 855-545-4900 Sales Support number with questions if in doubt.
