Do your products need to be applied with spray gun?
Question:
Can your products be brushed or rolled if I don’t have a spray gun or air compressor?
Answer:
We offer a wide variety of our products through our online store outlets such as: https://store.sprayliningandcoatings.com. These products can be easily customized based on the particular needs of our customers (including their preferred method of application). While our products are generally best applied by hopper spray gun, some projects are actually better applied by brushing or rolling.
For standard truck bed application, a texture hopper is generally recommended. This allows the application of a thicker product without excessive running on vertical surfaces. On truck beds, you would usually have difficulty obtaining a uniform coat by roller due to the contours of the bed. Brushing may tend to leave brush marks if the coating is a thick consistency. For smooth applications which don’t require as much impact protection, 1 thinner consistency product can often be provided which could be applied by an HVLP spray gun.
Whenever applying these coatings by methods other than spray gun, you will need to wait longer to apply additional coats. While you could spray an additional coat before the previous coat cures, brushing or rolling will require it to be mostly hardened. Typical times between coats is about 2 hours if spraying, and 3 – 4 hours if applying by brush or roller.
In general, most applications will find that application using our Poly Powder additive and hopper spray gun achieve a faster build rate. They also tend to be more uniform in finished product than by brush or roller. Large, flat, horizontal surfaces are actually best applied by pouring the mixed coatings onto the surface, and spreading with a thin nap roller.
