Question:

What kit would you recommend for a wood deck with a wheelchair ramp? I am in Washington state and have temps from 110 in the summer to 10 below zero in the winter, I have used your product before on a Land Cruiser interior, it is good stuff.

Answer:

Our high build coatings would work in general, and we could work up a custom quote for you if you would like to provide some details such as sq ft, color, texture preferences.

Another option is our commercial product DB-1081 polyurea. This product is very flexible (rubbery), but very tough. It is meant for traffic surface areas, and the process is usually to apply a layer of the coatings, then broadcast coarse rounded aggregate such as pool filter sand onto it to harden the end resulting coating, and to add more slip resistance. You can broadcast the aggregate until the point of refusal (stays dry on top the liquid base layer), and the resulting coating would basically be the color and texture of the aggregate itself. You can also broadcast less or topcoat if you wanted a colored product or want a smoother finish.

The standard product has proven to work well in outside environments, but will be more prone to cracking in extreme low temps or if the substrate does a lot of flexing. The DB-1081 has 1000% elongation, and simply cannot crack at temps above -45° F. The DB-1081 can also be applied at temps as low as 20° F, while the standard products should be applied at temps above 70° F.
