What kind of spray equipment would I need for the smooth coatings on metal?
Question:
What kind of spray equipment would I need for the smooth coatings on metal?
Answer:
The kind of spray equipment required for any of the products Diamondback Linings supplies depends on the use and product. For spraying a truck bedliner or most other exterior coatings, you will get the most material for lower cost by using our 3 part products. These DIY coatings include a powder component, and cost less per sprayable gallon. To apply thick coatings requires a hopper spray gun (included with many of our kits). By varying the consistency and spray pattern, you can apply thick coatings relatively smooth.
Another option even smoother application, is to use our protective coatings without the powder additive. This will be a product much thicker than automotive paint, but still provide more self-leveling for a smoother final result. An example of the 2 part product is our Tintable Bedliner DIY Kit . The 2 part kits cost more per gallon, since they do not include the powdered component, but can be applied with an HVLP gun.
You can also do both (apply the base bedliner and then go over with the topcoat). This is the process used for our Colored Truck Bed or Custom Color Koi Pond kits. If you are uncertain what finished texture you would like, you can just do the base bedliner or water feature coating now, and top coat later if desired. Top coats applied later will properly bond with the previous coating without peeling issues.
