Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted as gases from certain solids or liquids. VOCs include a variety of chemicals, some of which may have short- and long-term adverse health effects. VOCs are emitted by a wide array of products numbering in the thousands. Concentrations of many VOCs are consistently higher indoors (up to ten times higher) than outdoors due to the number of products emitting them and the lack of fresh air supply. Most of these VOC emissions do not get filtered by household filtration systems.
These volatile organic chemicals are widely used as ingredients in many household products. Paints, varnishes and wax all contain organic solvents, as do many cleaning, disinfecting, cosmetic, degreasing and hobby products. Fuels are made up of organic chemicals. All of these products can release organic compounds while you are using them, and, to some degree, when they are stored.
In general, any product that evaporates and/or dries (other than water based products) do so by having a significant amount of VOCs. There is no volatile organic compound which is considered good for your health, and some have significant risks associated with them.
All our coatings are 100% solids. These products have no VOCs, and cure (rather than dry). This means that not only are they safer to apply, they also do not lose their volume by drying such as both products with VOCs, and water based products provide by the competition.
