Is it possible to buy just one gallon of your colored truck bed liner?
Question:
Can I buy just one gallon of your products? I wanted to buy the Custom Color Bedliner Kit, but only need a gallon.
Answer:
We can custom quote coatings tailored for almost any job, but have some limitations based on the formulation required and the size of containers.
Our standard colored bedliner is a 2 stage process where a bedliner base coat which is textured and of a light grey color is applied first. Then the color coat is applied over that. The base coat consists not only of the liquid product, but also a powdered component which thickens and textures the product and makes up the largest part of the final product. Since the standard SL&C products are 2:1 and in quart containers, you would need 3 quarts of the liquids at a minimum, and the powders usually make up 1 gallon of your kit volume. The top coat in our standard kit is 3 quarts using our clear bedliner along with 1 quart of color tint. Standard SL&C Custom Color bedliner kits are just under 3 gallons total volume.
If you are not wanting to texture your coating, but rather just coat with a much thicker and more durable coating than automotive paint, we could custom quote just the liquids and color tint. In this case, you could apply with typical HVLP gun (if thinning with lacquer thinner) or even roll/brush the product. We do recommend use our HVLP gun which is modified to 2.0 mm tip to spray the coatings without thinning. For this type of kit, a single gallon would be possible.
NOTE: The base coat is generally too thick to be applied properly except by hopper gun due to the Poly Powder. We can include with your kit, or quote without it if you have access to a standard texture hopper.
Rolling or brushing the coatings require you to wait longer between coats since the previous coat will need to be almost fully cured. Brushing too soon will disturb the previous coat and make for a less than professional finish. This method of application can avoid the need to use spray equipment at all however.
