I see you have a lot of DIY Colored Truck Bedliner kits. How do I apply a spray on truck bed liner with your color kits?

Answer:

The simplest option for you to add basic bedliner protection if you are looking for a smooth finish is to use our Tintable Bedliner Kit or similar packages. This kit consists of 1 gallon A Clear, and ½ gallon of BR. It’s mixed at a 2:1 ratio, and you add up to 1 part (½ gallon total) of your own automotive single part, single stage paint as the color tint. The automotive paint is available at your local automotive finishes supplier. We can also provide the automotive color tint, but the cost is generally lower for you to supply locally. Any paint code can be matched relatively well using this product.

You can also use any oil-based alkyd enamel paint for a color tint. This allows you to select a close match to your paint code (if desired) with any of the thousands of colors available from your local paint retailer.

This tintable bed liner can usually be applied with modified HVLP gun provided in this kit. How much you can spray per batch depends on the air compressor capacity you have available. The end result is a colored product which is far thicker than can be achieved even with 20 coats of automotive paint, and usually requires only a few coats. You can also use a texture hopper if you prefer.

The alternative to this kit is one of our colored truck bed liner kits which are a 2 part process. You first apply the bed liner in a light grey color and get the desired texture depending on the thickness, air pressure control, and tip selection along with the percentage and types of powders you add to your specific mix. You control all these aspects to apply a base coat. Step 2 involves applying the color coat after the base coat has partially cured. This is the same process and materials as used with the tintable bedliner above. The end result in this process is an even thicker coating with more texture than can be achieved with a liquids only product.
